The Grants Committee

[2009-2010 funding objectives]

The grants committee is currently made up of Jackie Hipwell and Sue Ham representing the school, Steve Mewes representing the school’s community partner the Wedmore Green Group, and Richard Harris (grants committee coordinator) and Adrian Warren who are both parents representing Friends.

Jackie and Sue’s role is essentially to give information about curriculum subjects or extra-curricular areas that the school would like to encourage and enhance, and also to provide ongoing documentary information to support grant and resources bids. From time to time Jackie and Sue put in bids themselves but their main role is as facilitators.

Steve’s role is to make the committee aware of wider, community based actions and activities (particularly with an environmentally friendly nature) where the school and the WGG together can obtain benefits through collaboration.

Richard and Adrian’s role is to on the one hand identify grants and other resources that are on offer and that match the school’s target aspirations identified by Jackie and Sue, and on the other hand be the main application writers charged with getting bids in to funders in time to meet grant or award deadlines.

A brief overview of our current grant bids and 2009/2010 funding objectives can be viewed or downloaded as pdf files here.

We would like to hear from any parents who know of or who come across grants or awards schemes or competitions that the school might bid for or enter. We use an online grants register called grants4schools as a major source of intelligence but there are often more local opportunities that pass under the radar. Similarly if anyone would like to help us at the sharp end of putting bids together please contact Richard.
