The Wedmore Ball Clerk to Governors – Job Vacancy

The Wedmore Ball is on 15th May 2010 and you would have already had a reservation form for tickets (additional ones in office). You can reserve your tickets for just £10 with the rest payable before 23rd April 2010. Total price for the tickets are £40. Tables are normally for 10 people, but you do not have to fill a table, we can ask you nearer the time who you would like to share with. It would be a great opportunity to get to make some new friends! For those of you who are not familiar with the Wedmore Ball, it has been going strong for a number of years now. It is hosted in a marquee on the playing field and will have a fully stocked licensed bar together with a dance floor where you can dance the night away to a live band and disco. You can enjoy a glass of bubbly on arrival then sit down to a fabulous 4 course meal. There are a couple of 'games to play' prior to the meal. It is a great excuse to get dressed up and leave the kids at home and have a great time, with the added bonus that it is not far from home! The main purpose of this prestigious event, is to raise money for Friends, the school's PTA, so there will be an auction for some fantastic lots, including holidays, ladies treats, gentlemen’s and sporting packages, services and items for the home, teenage and children’s experiences and much more. So lets all work together to make this a night to remember!

A vacancy has arisen for a clerk to governors. The job entails liaising between governors, setting up governor body meetings, taking minutes etc. If anyone is interested in this post please contact the school office on 01934 712643 for further information. The closing date is Friday 29th January 2010.

Friends of Wedmore First School DO NOT PARK IN THE LAY-BY

We would all like to say a massive thank you to Anita French who unfortunately has decided to step down as Chair of Friends and her co-chair Dae Sasitorn. Anita has been a vital key member of the Friends, but she will continue to help with the ball and other fundraising events. Dae has been working on the Friends website. We welcome Richard Harris the new Chair and Sarah Rant as Vice Chair.

Please can we remind you that you cannot park or drop children off in the school lay-by in the mornings between 8:30 – 9:15am and after school between 3:00 – 3:45pm. The lay-by should be use for buses and taxi’s only! The Police are aware of the drivers dropping off children in the lay-by which raises huge concerns over the safety of the children. Please abide by these simple rules and be responsible for the safety of all of our children.
